Why is it that when someone asks us to do something, we’re more likely to do it for them—even if it’s something we’ve been avoiding for ourselves?
This year is all about showing up more in my community, not just working with clients over Zoom. My “Expansion Year.” But there’s one problem… I struggle with recording myself and putting it out on social media.
In person? Networking? Out in the wild? I thrive! But the idea of going live or posting a recording? Total paralysis.
Then came an email from the yoga studio where I’m hosting a somatic breathwork session later this month:
“Hey, can you come in so we can make a video about your class and post it?”
“YES! Of course! I’ll be right there!”
Cue the nerves, the butterflies… but hey, I’m a professional. “See you at 9:30!”
And you know what? After leaving the studio, something shifted. That little push lit a fire under me—I went home and started recording a new series.
Maybe being put in a position where saying no isn’t an option is exactly what we need to start saying YES to ourselves.
