Breathe Through the Holidays...The Season is Upon Us!
by Ashlie Megrichian
The holidays — they’re beautiful, chaotic, emotional, and everything in between.
They bring joy and connection, yes… but they can also stir up stress, tension, and a whole lot of “old stuff” we thought we’d already worked through.
We move fast. We say yes when our body’s whispering no. We hold it all together because “that’s what we do.” And before we know it, our nervous system is running on overdrive, our breath is shallow, and our energy feels scattered.
This is exactly where Somatic Breathwork comes in.
***Coming Back Home to the Body***
Somatic Breathwork is about dropping out of the mind and back into the body — into the place where truth lives.
It’s an invitation to release what’s been held, to clear the static, and to come back into alignment with yourself.
Through connected, intentional breathing, your body begins to soften and open. You may feel emotions rise, or sensations move through you — that’s energy completing its cycle. You’re literally creating space for peace to return.
It’s not about fixing or forcing anything. It’s about allowing.
Letting your body lead. Letting your breath guide you home.
***Why This Practice Matters During the Holidays***
The holidays have a way of pulling us in a thousand directions. Old patterns show up, family dynamics can get sticky, and we often forget to tend to ourselves in the process.
Somatic Breathwork helps us regulate our nervous system so we can respond — not react. It allows us to be more present, grounded, and compassionate — both with ourselves and others.
When we take time to breathe, we create the space to feel.
And when we allow ourselves to feel, we begin to heal.
***Simple Ways to Use Your Breath This Season***
✨ Before the day begins — Take a few minutes to close your eyes and connect to your breath. Inhale peace, exhale tension. Set an intention for how you want to feel today.
✨ When emotions rise — Instead of pushing them away, breathe through them. Place your hand on your heart, take a deep inhale through the nose, and exhale out the mouth with a sigh. Let it move.
✨ Before gatherings or events — Give yourself a moment to ground. Breathe into your belly, release your shoulders, soften your jaw. You don’t have to carry everything.
✨ End your day with gratitude — A few slow, conscious breaths before bed to thank your body for carrying you through.
***The Real Gift***
The most meaningful gift you can give yourself this season isn’t wrapped in a box — it’s the gift of presence.
Your breath is your anchor. It’s the reminder that even when the world feels loud, peace is still possible within you.
So this holiday season, when things start to feel heavy or chaotic, take a deep breath.
Come back home.
Your body always knows the way.
